In the histological Department of the National Institute of Cancer there are assembled and are in operation four workplaces for laboratory assistants. Thank you everyone who helped us cover production and assembly of special furniture (equipment) for the laboratory. Exactly here working with the material they determine the kind of tumor, its malignancy and activeness of cells. These are the first tables with air vent. Our next purchase is planned to be an anesthetic-respiratory apparatus for the Childhood Cancer Department. It costs around 19 000 euro. Unfortunately, at the moment our doctors use an anesthetic apparatus produced in the 40th.
15-02-10 «We live on this Earth»
“We are not like everyone else. We are afraid of the sunshine. We don’t wear revealing clothes and pink ribbons in our hair. We know how to smile with the tears in our eyes and we know how to cry with the smile on our lips. Instead of ice-cream we eat a bunch of various pills. Our best toys are syringes and droppers. We felt all kinds of pain... We know how much our lives cost. We learned to believe in God. And wait for the miracle. We learned tens of prayers and repeat them every night over and over again. We do not want to die. WE want to live on this Earth. Because we are just children - children with cancer”.

The exhibition “We Live On This Earth” dedicated to the Childhood Cancer Day is open. From 12.00 till 19.00 we invite you to the Alexander Prognimak cultural-educational center - Alex Art House (str.Khoriv, 25, subway station “Kontraktova Square”). The exposition will be help till February’21.
At the exhibition “We Live On this Earth” there are displayed the works of volunteers and children with cancer from the Foundation “Crab” (kiev), “Give a Life” (Moscow), “Advita” (st.Petersburg), “Daryna” (Dnepropetrovsk), “Save a Life” (Vladivostok), “Mamaunia” (Vilnius), “Rugute” (Vilnius), the volunteer center at the hospital Motol (Prague). For the first time the exhibition is on not only in Moscow, but also in Kiev. 37 children participate in this event.
According to the data of the National cancer-registry of Ukraine, at least 1000 children fall sick with cancer every year. Undoubtedly these children need money for medicine, equipment, surgeries, and besides all the required medical procedures art stimulates their successful recovery. While fulfilling their artistic potential they manifest their life, stop thinking about their endless procedures and chemo. They learn to rejoice at their life and learn to live again.

International Women’s Club of Kiev (IWCK) supported our project of art lessons at the Childhood Cancer Department. Due to them we will be able to provide active storage for the lessons. The goal of the lessons is not just to distract our small patients from the course of treatment, but also to teach them something new and fascinating, to teach them new techniques and to show that they can see the world in a new way. As a part of the ArtStudio project we plan to organize art lessons as well as photography study group; we will also produce our own animated cartoon. We will keep you updated thereabout through our news posts and you will be able to see them in our exhibitions. Today we had the first ArtStudio lesson. We fully covered the cost of the appliance. Since May’16 it has been used during surgeries. One of its functions is to gather blood lost by the patient in the course of surgery, to purify it and to return it to the patient. The medical crew is highly satisfied with the new appliance and keeps constantly thanking us for it. All their thanksgiving we forward to YOU! In the most complicated cases the appliance is used during operations by the Cancer Department for adults. The separator has no expiration date. Every patient receives his/her own attachable set. We will be purchasing more sets for the Childhood Cancer Department as far as possible. Thank you again to all of you who helped us!

15-02-09 International Childhood Cancer Day
February’15 is an International Childhood Cancer Day. On this day childhood cancer is widely discussed all over the world. About problems, victories, pain, joy, prospective possibilities.
According to the ICCCPO data – Childhood Cancer surviving has increased twice for the previous 30 years and makes up 80% now; however, this rate is mainly typical of well-developed countries, in other words only one cancer patient out of 5 will experience it.
In developing countries the rate of childhood cancer surviving is usually 20 %. Annually 100 000 children die of treatment lack. Since 2007 there has existed the World Childhood Cancer Foundation; the main task and goal of it is to remove the difference in Childhood Cancer surviving rates in well-developed and developing countries.
This organization releases two new projects in Malawi and Columbia, to the end of 2009 will select three more projects. Hopefully, Ukraine will be a part of this project.
