We had great time and a lot of fun! Special thanksgiving to Olga Lagoda! Once, when she heard the actress Rimma Zyubina on the radio talking about our Foundation, Olga got interested, checked a website and decided to organize an event for the children. We thank everyone who supported her: Alyona and Viktor Senkovsky, Lina Zaika, Svetlana Galak, Sergey Novgorodsky, Sergey Garashchuk, Oksana Zvol, and others. We know that we will meet again!

Clay contains all the mineral salts and microelements necessary to our bodies. Besides, they believe that the land derivatives which store energy for thousands of years produce a special aura harmonizing everything around it. Today everyone had a chance to make some figurines out of clay. The main task was not so much to create highly artistic work, though some items turned out to be very interesting, but to encourage the kids to work manually with clay. Thank you girls from "Our Expedition" for the useful and pleasant evening!

“People help people” is the slogan of annual New Year charitable fairs organized by International Women’s Club of Kiev. Today in Kiev Expo Plaza you could witness different people participating in charity – those who bought goods and those who sold goods. Sales were held by all the countries which have diplomatic missions in Ukraine. The diplomats of all countries themselves opened this Charitable Fair.
During such events there are funds raised for providing grants to the charitable organizations for the upcoming year. Also on a separate stand the IWCK grantees had a chance to present their organizations. We have been taking part in such events for the previous three years.

The manager of the project “Beauty salon therapy”, our volunteer Elena Finger (Widerstrahl Center of German culture) invited the manicure master Svetlana Zametalina and the visage naster Anastasia Melniychuk today.
Our little patients’ moms got an opportunity to not only get haircuts done, but also to fix their nails and to admire themselves with the new makeup. There were so many moms wishing to experiment! Unfortunately, the masters physically could not devote time to everybody. We were happy to see the moms’ desire to be beautiful and well-groomed. Today we heard one little patient saying: “Granny, let them put some makeup on you! When wearing makeup, you won’t cry!”
We thank Elena, Svetlana and Anastasia for helping our moms look beautiful ladies again!

Phenomenal success gave this slender energetic lady a good chance to make the whole world to be her stage.
Thanks for the possibility to interact with a confident positive person!

Today the press conference took place in UNIAN, which started the All-Ukraine Week of Palliative and Hospice Aid initiated by the Ukrainian League of Assisting Development of Palliative and Hospice Aid.
The journalists’ questions were answered by Vasiliy Knyazevich, the Head of the Ukrainian League of Assisting Development of Palliative and Hospice Aid; Lyudmila Andriishin, the regional hospital “Hospice” head physician, Ivano-Frankovsk; Larisa Lavrenyuk, head of the Childhood Cancer Foundation “Crab”; Dasha Malakhova, anchorperson, “Crab” volunteer.
One of our Foundation areas is developing the palliative and hospice aid in Ukraine. Our desire coincides with the Ukrainian League goals. We have recently become members of this organization.
Annually around 500 thousand people need special care and assistance at the end of their early life. Unfortunately, this problem attracts little attention. In Ukraine there are only 12 inpatient hospices and 20 palliative care departments in hospitals. There is NO single specialized hospice for children. One more problem in palliative medicine is lack of painkillers, extremely complicated procedure of prescribing opioid analgesics, groundless restriction of dosages and pain-relief medicine quantity per patient. Ukraine is the only European country using injection morphine. Besides, a daily dose of injections is restricted despite the individual pain level. In the civilized world there widely used band-aids, pills and syrups for pain relief.

In Angelica’s works a “tree-painted egg” shows up as a Universe prototype. The mystery of egg – beginning of life as well as mystery of tree – power of life, through the millenniums aroused various associations and were considered by people as the biggest miracles. With time tree and egg became Slavic symbols of spring awakening on Earth, symbols of life’s victory over death. Exactly such a tree we painted with Angelica Rudnitska at the Department today.
To be more accurate, everyone painted his/her own tree (according to their wish) and Angelica shared a lot of fascinating information about symbolism and trees meanwhile. And she generously complimented all! This sweet lady charms wonderfully and finds a common language with the naughtiest kiddos.

For keeping active surgery storage and medicine directly in the operating room of the Childhood Cancer Department the doctors asked to purchase the cabinet. Today it was delivered.

Remodeling the manipulation room (#301) of the Childhood Cancer Department is over; today most of medical for it was delivered. We spent a lot of time gathering, installing, assembling, cleaning…. Not everything planned is fulfilled, but it is already pleasant and joyful to watch the changes!
Annually the first-referral room (#301) opens the doors to 3 500 children from all regions of Ukraine. Every day the medical staff examines 20 to 30 children. With the special equipment the first-referral manipulation room can function as a mini operating room – then there’ll be no need to send the child to the bandaging room in the Childhood Cancer Department for biopsy or other simple surgery procedures. This will consequently save time in exams of children.

Hurray! Laboratory indirect light microscope with video camera for documentation, produced at the German factory, passed the customs and successfully arrived at the National Institute of Cancer today.
With the help of Axio Lab.A1 microscope there are more options to easily and effectively perform searches in microbiological, hematological and pathological laboratories. The microscope allows having such searches as bright field, dark field, phase contrast and fluorescence done. We hope that the new optics will help our specialists in working with pathohistological samples. We thank the Konrads’ who helped to buy the microscope for the lab!
